Kangaroo paw at its boldest — Big Red sends up tall stems of velvety, claw-shaped flowers in deep scarlet above strappy green foliage. Honeyeaters can't resist them, and the cut stems last well in a vase too.
Like most kangaroo paws it wants full sun and a free-draining spot, and once settled it gets by on very little water. Feed only with a low-phosphorus native fertiliser, and cut spent flower stems right at the base to keep the paws coming through the warm months.
